Apply To Join The Competent Persons Scheme
Joining APHC’s Competent Persons Scheme is simple. Please follow the points below:
- Please download, print and post your application form to APHC at the address below. Please ensure all relevant certificates, photos and supporting literature are provided as requested.
- Please ensure a suitable payment method is provided; either Credit Card or Direct Debit are suitable forms of payment. Don’t forget this will be the source of all certificate charges. If you want a different payment account to be used please contact our Certification Team after your Consultation and we will be happy to update your information.
- Once you have submitted your application our Certification Team will be in contact to set up a Consultation. The Consultation will involve visiting you at your office, carrying out a painless business audit, and visiting 2 sites you are working at and are in the process of commissioning.
- Once approved, you can certificate all your plumbing and heating works (excluding gas services) to ensure your customer is protected.
Our policy is to provide a true one stop shop so you do not have to join several schemes. As a result, there are a range of standards you must attain and retain in order to comply with each area of the scheme. You do not have to have each part in order to join; however, you will need the relevant section to certificate those works. Please visit our Required Standards Section. As a full member of APHC your initial application will cost £250.00*. Once accepted an assessment visit will be arranged at a cost of £250.00**. This makes a total cost of £500.00 per year.
As a non member you can still join the Scheme; however there is an additional fee of £150.00 at the application stage (making £400.00 in total) and each year your assessment fee will be £750.00. As a non-member joining the Scheme, you will be entitled to certain APHC benefits to assist you in maintaining your Competent Persons Scheme membership.
