Welcome
In June 2007 all homes being sold will need a Home Information Pack (HIP). This pack includes information about the works undertaken on all services (e.g. plumbing) in the home.
As a homeowner, you must ensure works undertaken in your home meet with Building Regulations Approval. This is essential if you are to meet the legal requirements of the HIP. Your purchaser's solicitor could make life very difficult for you if this legally-required information is not included in the pack. You can ensure you meet these requirements either by contacting your local building control department, which is time-consuming and costly, or simply by using a tradesman who is certificated by an approved Competent Persons Scheme.
As a plumbing and heating engineer, you must gain Building Regulations Approval for all relevant works undertaken in a domestic property. You can either contact your local building control department, which is time-consuming and costly, or you can use a Competent Persons Scheme, a much easier and more cost-effective option.
APHC’s Competent Persons Scheme offers consumers the peace of mind that the works undertaken will meet with Building Regulations approval, allowing the smooth sale of domestic property. The Scheme offers plumbers and heating engineers the opportunity to save themselves time and money, and to provide their customers with that peace of mind.
On this site, consumers can locate an approved engineer or company that can provide the services you need.
Plumbing and heating engineers can find information about the scheme, including how to certificate customers’ work and how to join the scheme.
